Col. Sam Inokoba was an extraordinary man – Niger Delta Leaders
Niger Delta Leaders on Wednesday praised Chief Timipre Sylva, describing him as an astute administrator, a prudent manager of resources and a distinguished politician,
“We have examined all the governorship aspirants in Bayelsa State and it is clear to us that Chief Timipre Sylva is the best. He represents a Bayelsa State that is dedicated to serving the best interests of the people; a Bayelsa State which offers hope to the people; a Bayelsa State where things work. Other aspirants in the APC represent narrow, sectional and divisive tendencies which can threaten the unity, peace and progress of the state” the leaders said after a meeting in Abuja.
Stressing that Sylva is the best governorship aspirant in the state, in terms of performance and commitment to the enlargement and deepening of democracy, the leaders said “he has all it takes to lead the state to success.”

“We have observed his leadership style at close range and he really excels. He is in the governorship race to bring peace and development to the state. He will restore the confidence of the people in government. He will also reinvent and locate Bayelsa State on the path of sustained growth”
“The leaders who predicted APC electoral landslide in the December 5, 2015 governorship vote urged APC delegates in the state to make Sylva the party’s touch bearer.
“The next governor must be a person of proven integrity, experience and compassion for the well-being of the people. Sylva is a man of wisdom, dedication and integrity.
“Huge numbers of Bayelsans are living in poverty. Sylva will focus on the real issues facing the people. He will give power back to the poor”
The leaders also commiserated with the family, government and people of Bayelsa State on the death of the immediate Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Col. Sam Inokoba, describing him as an “an extraordinary man and a change agent.

Bayelsa Governorship: Tinubu moves against spoilers, urges Timipre Sylva to contest
Former governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Chief Timipre Sylva to contest the December 5, 2015 Governorship election in Bayelsa State.
Tinubu also charged Bayelsans to ensure that Sylva becomes the next governor of the state in view of placing the state on the right path.
“I want him to contest the governorship election because of his proven leadership qualities and our belief that he can bring change to the state” he said.
Tinubu who met Sylva at his Abuja home not only endorsed him as the party’s consensus candidate for the December 5, 2015 governorship election but commended him for his contributions to the development of the party in Nigeria, particularly Bayelsa State.
“It is time for Bayelsans to unite and support a person who can effectively enhance unity, provide opportunities for all and lead the people in a different direction”
He expressed total and unreserved support for Sylva’s aspiration to clinch the party’s ticket and governorship seat.
He mandated APC leaders and members in Bayelsa State to support his choice
“If you want change, if you’re unhappy with the direction of Bayelsa State, then you must join the governorship race and change the state for the people”.
Tinubu, who also described Sylva as an agent of change, is pushing for the former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, to occupy the governorship position.
Niger Delta leaders slam APC factional chairman, canvass support for Oyegun, Sylva
Niger Delta leaders on Sunday warned former factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Richard Kpodo against provocative statements, reminding the people to be careful of those working for the interest of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The leaders also accused Kpodo and his associates of hatching evil motives aimed at dividing APC, destroying the solidarity and possibly provoking crises in the party.
In a statement issued by the Director of Communications of the Niger Delta People’s Movement, Mrs. Ibifuro Thompson Tatua, the leaders described as irresponsible the campaign of calumny by Kpodo.
The leaders who praised Chief John Odigie Oyegun for his honesty and bravery in the management of the party as well as his inclusive strategy, advised the national chairman of the party and former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva to look away from Kpodo and his friends and get on with important matters.
“In any system, there are always destroyers. Oyegun and Sylva should look away from these destroyers. Kpodo and his co – travelers are just executing a carefully designed plan to discredit Sylva and destabilize the party to further their selfish ends” the leaders said.
. On calls to oppose the leadership of Sylva in the state, the leaders not only described Kpodo’s views as a display of outright malice and envy against Sylva but said Kpodo and his associates do not mean well for the party and the state.
“This is callous. This is certainly a provocative act. Bayelsans must condemn the evil machinations of Kpodo, his highly contagious anointing to lie and the satanic grace to mislead the people”.
The leaders also thanked the people for the confidence reposed on Sylva.
“We thank the good and peace loving people of Bayelsa State who have refused to be hoodwinked by the tissues of lies and propaganda being woven and dished out by desperate politicians and their sponsors” the statement said.
“Bayelsans are sick and tired of leaders whose only interest in politics is their pockets and that of their crooked and fraudulent clique at the expense of the masses” the statement added.
