Anioma elders meet, endorse Olejeme
Some senior citizens of Delta State on Tuesday tipped the Chairman, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as the likely governor of Delta State in 2015. They also expressed their support for power shift in 2015.
The elders who rose from their enlarged executive meeting in Agbor said there was no doubt as to whether Delta North would produce the next governor, stressing that the people were now prepared more than ever before to do so.
Addressing professionals, political leaders, businessmen and women who thronged the venue of the meeting, Chairman, Anioma Elders Forum, Dr. Jude Umakwe said “there abound many Delta North people who are well qualified to be governor”.
“The question of producing a Delta North governor in 2015 cannot be compromised” they said.
The elders threw light on the qualities of the next governor.
“We need someone who can manage human and material resources and move the state forward. We need someone who will uphold the principles of accountability and transparency”
The elders extolled the virtues of Olejeme, describing her as a woman of high ethical values and a rare model for Delta State, Nigeria and Africa.
“Delta State should count itself as blessed for producing somebody like Olejeme. She is a woman of God and has been promoting peace, tolerance and development in Delta State and beyond. We are very proud of her activities” they said.
The elders who also raised the 2013 governorship screening process above the level of witch hunting and politics of imposition advised traditional rulers, politicians, professionals, businessmen and women, students and youths in the state to stand firmly by Olejeme and bring her to power in 2015.
They appealed to Deltans abroad to support Olejeme to clinch the coveted office of the governor in 2015.
“Olejeme is an outstanding Nigerian in many respects who has touched many lives in a very positive manner. She has honesty, fairness, equity, justice, peace, accountability and good governance as her watchword”
They also warned governorship aspirants in the state to desist from going about scandalizing others.
Plot to foist someone on the people in 2015 will fail, say Delta Leaders
Prominent politicians, professionals and community leaders in Delta State on Sunday advised the powers –that-be against plot to foist someone on the people in 2015.
“The politics of 2015 is that of issues that have direct bearing on the well-being of the people. Therefore, anyone who wants to become governor of the state must demonstrate the capacity. His vision and determination to govern the state must be clear to the people”
Rising from a meeting in Asaba on Sunday night, the leaders described the Chairman, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as the best material for the Delta State number one office.
“Delta State needs a competent and honest leader in 2015; an
individual who has the will and moral courage to use power solely for the purpose of reducing the frustration and suffering of the people; a leader who is prepared to wield power in full compliance with the principles and demands of social justice and transparency; a leader who has what it takes to reconcile this potentially great state with
itself and with its destiny”
“Olejeme is a woman of extraordinary accomplishments. She has a reputation for honesty and sincerity. She is also very consistent with the ideals, beliefs and dreams of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”
Chairman of Delta Leaders Forum, Dr. Maxwell Nkenchor in a statement after the meeting appealed to the good people of the state, of all shades of opinion and political persuasion to join them in working for the interest of Olejeme.
“Our ultimate goal, no matter where we stand on the political spectrum is the uplifting of state and the political, economic, cultural and social well-being of our people”.
The leaders also appealed to Olejeme not to cave in to any threat or undue influence.
NAWOJ honours Ngozi Olejeme
In recognition of her role in adding value and her pragmatic stance in ensuring good governance and management, Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, Chairman, Board of Directors, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) will be bestowed with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)
Positive Thinkers Award.
A statement signed by Dupe Olaoye-Osinkolu (Chairman) and Uchechukwu Akinobi (Secretary) of NAWOJ, Lagos State chapter said “Olejeme is slated to be given special recognition for her philanthropy through
the You and I Foundation, which has set a new paradigm in social and humanitarian activism in Nigeria as well as her accomplishments in NSITF and other institutions in Nigeria and abroad”
“Her accomplishments have given succor to the ordinary people and hope to millions. She is a role model to women politicians and young people in Africa”
Continuing, the statement said “NAWOJ resolved to give a pat on the back’ to Olejeme for promoting the values of hard work and sincerity and contributing significantly to national advancement as well as in the development of Delta State. .
The event will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja.
2015: Delta South Leaders move against spoilers, say only God can stop Olejeme from becoming governor of Delta State
Prominent sons and daughters of the Delta South senatorial zone on Sunday made another concerted effort at charting a pathway towards ensuring responsible and accountable leadership in Delta State come 2015.
Meeting under the aegis of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Isoko Progressives in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area, the leaders made some statements about the position of the three ethnic groups regarding the 2015 governorship election in the state. They also
resolved to work against persons with questionable character and track record.
“Given the fact that Delta Central and Delta South have dominated the highest office in the state, Delta North shall produce the governor come 2015” they declared.
Emphasizing that democracy should empower all to aspire to public office; the leaders said the business of governance was far too serious to be entrusted in the hands of novices or persons with questionable character and track record.
“Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, a member of the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), is a woman of high integrity and high principles. She is a great administrator, seasoned technocrat and a lover of people. She is well entrenched in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She is our choice and will be governor of Delta State in 2015” the leaders said.
In a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Mrs. Rosemary Clark, the leaders described Olejeme as “a political institution in Nigeria and an ardent believer in the policies and programmes of the present administration”
The leaders called on the people from Delta North to unite, speak with one voice and strongly resist any political arrangement that will deter the area from getting the governorship slot in 2015.
They also implored Olejeme to continue her good work.
“Olejeme has endeared herself to development conscious Nigerians as a veritable model. In NSITF and other institutions, she has empowered several people and cemented an enduring friendship with people from
all walks of life”.
They urged Deltans, irrespective of ethnic and cultural persuasion to join hands with men and women of good conscience to make Olejeme governor in 2015.
The leaders who also commended the cordial relationship existing between the governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Dr. Olejeme, advised spin doctors not to waste their time.
“Olejeme, who doubles as Board Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the Trust Fund Pension Plc, is capable of consolidating on the gains so far made in Delta State” the leaders said.
Uduaghan explains support for Olejeme’s governorship ambition
Director General, You and I Foundation, Mr. Oritsejolomi Uduaghan on Wednesday described the chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as a highly focused individual, saying this humble and dynamic Deltan is a natural successor to Governor
“If the succession is about continuity, keeping up the tempo of sustainable development and lifting the state and the people to the greatest heights, then Deltans have the answer in Dr. Ngozi Olejeme”
In a statement issued in Warri to explain the backing of Olejeme by prominent Nigerians for the governorship of the state, Uduaghan said they opted for Olejeme, owing to her track record as the chairman of NSITF and her philanthropic activities.
“Olejeme has a cordial relationship with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan. She has vision, moral fortitude, zeal, leadership, commitment and love for all. She enjoys the friendship of the leadership of the party and the confidence of the people and will definitely triumph in 2015” he said.
Continuing, he said “Olejeme is knowledgeable and straight forward. Her goodwill and philanthropy will see her through”
He pledged to work hard to ensure the success of the NSITF boss in the state.
“We are working very hard to deliver the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket and the state to Dr. Olejeme. So we don’t want to be distracted” he said.
Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, a cousin of the current governor of the state
and former special assistant to ex-governor James Ibori and Governor Uduaghan on special duties, argued that the NSITF boss was a detribalized Nigerian who is more acceptable in the country, particularly Delta State than some individuals parading as governorship aspirants.
“Olejeme is a consummate politician, proven administrator, a bridge builder, dogged fighter, grassroots mobiliser and crowd puller”.
He advised the people to embrace and rally round Olejeme for a better Delta State
“This is another opportunity to redefine and redesign our future in a direction that would strengthen the bond of unity, foster the spirit of oneness, enhance development and promote good governance” he added.
